Central Baptist Church Welcomes You!

Central Baptist Church is a medium-sized congregation of 200 members, located in the Suburban Philadelphia area known as the “Mainline.” CBC traces its origin to a group of people who split off from The Baptist Church of the Great Valley in the 1840’s, believing strongly that Christian faith required active opposition to slavery.  Since that origin, CBC has lived out the Christian principles of, justice, liberation, compassion, peacemaking and inclusion in many ways and in varying contexts.

CBC is a Welcoming and Affirming congregation, in the Philadelphia Baptist Association region of ABC-USA.  CBC is also affiliated with the Alliance of Baptists, The Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America, and the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists.

Believing in the radical inclusiveness of God, we come together from all walks of life as a faith community of various ages, ethnicities, religious backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities.  Following the model of Jesus, we are a congregation committed to supporting each one’s search for a personal relationship with God, deepening our communal relationship with each other, and partnering with others to work towards a more compassionate, just, equitable, peaceful, and sustainable world.

CBC is committed to a non-hierarchical structure that honors the voice of each individual, and one in which our two pastors share equally in all aspects of leadership and ministry.  We are a congregation who delights in honest questions, unfettered creativity, and thinking outside the box.
